Lightbulb Excerpts from "Protection for the Salafee"

    Bismillah,

[Adhere to Evidences, not Fancy Speech, a Cure for Ridding One's Self of Dubious Matters]

Shaykh, Dr. Ahmad Bazmool (1), may Allah protect him, said:

...It is upon [those who] are seeking the truth to adhere to fundamental principles (2), evidences and clear proofs. Do not be fascinated by the distortions and false arguments of those who are deceitful. Remember [and cling to] the statement of Imaam Maalik [d. 179 AH]: 'Is it that every time someone comes to us who is better at argumentation, we leave off that which Jibreel conveyed to Muhammad, prayers and peace upon him, for his [fancy] argument [?!]' If you adhere to this [principle], your confusions will go away, and your doubts will be removed...(3)

Excerpts from "Protection for the Salafee" - [2]

    Bismillah,

[Be Attached to Proofs, not People and Personalities]

Shaykh, Dr. Ahmad Baazmool, may Allah protect him, said:

One of the greatest principles of the Salafee Manhaj and that which makes firm its establishment is its foundation upon the Quran and Sunnah coupled with the interpretations of the pious predecessors of this nation (1): the Companions of the Prophet, prayers and peace upon him. The Salafee Manhaj does not connect nor attach the truth to personalities (2).
    Allah, the Most High, says:

And whoever contradicts and opposes the Messenger (i.e. Muhammad) after the right path has been shown clearly to him, and follows other than the believers' way. We shall keep him in the path he has chosen, and burn him in Hell - what an evil destination. [Al-Nisaa (4): 115]
Shaykh al-Islam, Ibn al-Tamiyyah [d. 728 AH], may Allah have mercy on him, said:

Whoever bases his speech concerning knowledge, foundational matters and subsidiaries matters, upon that which is found in the Quran, Sunnah and narrations of those from the past, indeed, he has attained the Prophetic path. (3)
May Allah make us from those who connect ourselves to the truth, and may he make us from those who are humble when presented with it.

    __________

    (1) [TN]: In these days and times you find many people quoting the Quran as well as the Sunnah; however, when it comes to their (i.e. the Quran and Sunnah’s) interpretations, you don’t find many of them restricting themselves to that which the pious predecessors understood from them, especially when it comes to dealing with the people of desires. Rather, you find them propagating their own uncertain, confusing and ambiguous understandings.

    (2) [TN]: How many people these days have connected their religion to a personality? To the point where you now you find people propagating the statement: “It’s not wise to criticize so and so. If so and so is refuted, people will leave the religion!” Has the affair reached a point where personalities are more beloved to the Muslims than the truth?

    Bismillah,

[From Their Tricks is Distorting the Meaning of Backbiting]

Shaykh, Dr. Ahmad Bazmool, may Allah protect him, said:

And from the trickeries of some of them is that they say that the Islamic texts, narrations of the Salaf and the statements of the scholars, that fault those who backbite and cause division and separation, apply to the people of the Sunnah, the Salafees.

By doing this, they trick the laymen into believing that the stance of the Salafees against the people of innovation and desires (1) is what is meant by these texts [that mention the blameworthiness of backbiting] (2).

There is not doubt that this is a deceitful trick, which indicates a disgustingness of innerself and a rottenness of intention. (3)
    Important Point:

Shaykh al-Islam, Ibn al-Tamiyyah [d. 728 AH], may Allah have mercy on him, said: The conditions for backbiting an open innovator are two: Knowledge and a Sound Intention. (4)

    __________

    (1) [TN]: By clarifying their mistakes openly

    (2) Imam Nawawee [d. 676 AH], may Allah have mercy on him, said: Backbiting is permissible pertaining to an open sinner and an innovator. [Riyaadh al-Saaliheen]
