The Importance of Removing Misunderstanding and Clarifying The Truth

Shaikh 'Abdul-'Azeez Ibn Baaz (d. 1420H, rahimahullaah) said:

"The Muslims today - rather the whole of mankind - are in the greatest need for the religion of Islaam to be explained to them. By Allaah, if people today knew the reality of al-Islaam, they would enter the religion in droves." - Majmu' al-Lifatihi

Abu 'Abdillaah Hassan as-Somali (hadidhahullaah) also relayed the following beneficial example of Shaikh ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (d. 728H, rahimahullaah) giving Da'wah to three priests:

Three priests entered upon Shaikh ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah who argued with them and established the proof upon them that they were kufaar (disbelievers), and explained and clarified to them that they were not on the religion of Abraham and Jesus, son of Mary ('alaihimu salam).

So they said to him, "We do exactly the same as what you (Muslims) do. You (Muslims) revere Nafisah as we revere Maryam, and you and us agree that Jesus and Maryam are more noble than Hussein and Nafisah. And you people seek rescue from the righteous amongst you (meaning you direct worship to the righteous from amongst you)."

[So look; they had a misunderstanding about Islaam. They thought Islaam condones these types of acts. They may have read this from the books of the Raafida (Shee'a). They thought this was Islaam.]

Ibn Taymiyyah agreed and said: "Whoever does [what you described] is similar to you. There is no doubt - we agree on that. And what you have described and attributed to [the Muslims] is not the religion of Abraham.

[So Ibn Taymiyyah freed Islaam and himself from that perverted understanding that the deviants and ignoramusus attribute to Islaam.]

Ibn Taymiyyah continued: "The religion that Abraham was on was to not worship except Allaah alone, without attributing to Allaah an equal, or partner, or son. And we don't worship along with Allaah [anything or anyone] - not the sun, nor the moon, nor an angel, nor a Prophet, nor the righteous."

Ibn Taymiyyah then explained to them the Tawheed that Allaah sent down to all the Prophets and Messengers ('alayhimu salaam), and the reality of the religion those Prophets and Messengers spread, and that the true religion is not what those people of falsehood [worshippers of Hussein and Nafisah] were upon. Then he said to the priests, "Whoever has fallen into what you have fallen into has resembled you."

The three priests said, "The religion you have described to us is better than the religion we are upon and the religion those people (meaning those people whom they erroneously thought represented Islam) are upon."

    Then, they left.

    - Majmu' Al-Fataawah, Vol. 1, Pg. 370

Subhanak Allaahuma wa bihamdika ash-hadu anlaa illaaha illa anta astaghfiruka wa atubu ilayk

If I said anything correct, then it is from Allaah (subhanahu wa taa'ala), and if I erred, then that is from me and shaytan.
