Exclamation The evils of the newly innovated TV debates

Aboo Mu`aadh Hasan al-`Iraaqee (hafidhahullaah) mentions in the introduction to his compilation [1] of the Salafee benefits and principles extracted from Usoolus-Sunnah of Imaam Ahmad (rahimahullaah) on page. 10:

"...And from this it is understood that the public debates which have now become widespread on the satellite TV channels are not correct, because of the great evil contained within them. From that evil is:

    - The majority of those who put themselves forward for these debates are not those qualified to do so (in terms of knowledge)

    - The majority of those who put themselves forward for these debates are from those whom have errors in `Aqeedah and Manhaj

    - These kind of debates are not from the methodology of the major scholars, who have spread the `Aqeedah of the Salaf without partaking in these debates

    - These debates could be the cause for someone (watching) to get a Shubhah (doubt), which could become stuck in the minds of the common folk and thereafter they may not be able to remove this Shubhah.

    - These debates cause enmity and hatred amongst the debaters and those who follow them

    - Often the intent of the ones debating is merely to overcome each other and to gain victory for themselves

    - These debates can also bring harm to Ahlus-Sunnah in those lands in which they are weak, increasing harm upon them by way of their governments (who are not pleased with what they say), just like what happened with us in Iraq when a person of Sunnah was put to trial and harmed and described as an `Ar`ooree, because one of those who put themselves forward for these public debates is one known as `Adnaan `Ar`oor [2]."

[1] The full title of the book (in English) is: `Aqeedah Related Benefits and Principles in Manhaj Extracted From The Salafee Fundamentals of Usoolus-Sunnah of Imaam Ahmad. This book was read to Shaykh `Ubayd al-Jaabiree (hafidhahullaah) who encouraged it to be spread and taught, and even added some footnotes of his own. Hasan al-`Iraaqee is a well known student of Shaykh `Ubayd (hafidhahumallaahu ta'aalaa).

[2] The misguided, foolish innovator `Adnaan `Ar`oor who busies himself with live TV debates alongside the Raafidah.

Shaykh Ahmad an-Najmee (rahimahullaah) said about `Ar`oor: "Mubtadi', Hizbee, don't sit with him nor listen to his speech, rather it's obligatory to warn from him."

Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan (hafidhahullaah) said about `Ar`oor: "I advise the Salafee youth to cut off from him and to not attend his duroos nor those of anyone like him."

Shaykh Rabee` bin Haadee al-Madkhalee (hafidhahullaah) said about `Ar`oor: "Beware of this dajjaal..."

Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) said:

”Refutation against the people of falsehood cannot be comprehensive except when it is in agreement with the (Authentic) Sunnah from every angle. And if not, the one who conforms to the (Authentic) Sunnah in a particular angle and opposes it from another angle, then those arguing against him will strive (to gain something) from that angle in which he opposed the (authentic) Sunnah, and they will use it as evidence to prove what is in agreement with what they are upon (of falsehood) from those arguments that are in opposition to the (authentic) Sunnah.” [Source:6/210- درء تعارض العقل والنقل 211]
