Lightbulb Narrations on the virtues of specific companions (Radi Allahu 'anhum)

    Asalaamualikum wa rahmatulahi wa baraakatuhu,

All Praise is Due to Allah and May His Salaah and salaam be upon His final messenger Muhammad, his family, companions and all those who follow them in goodness,

    To proceed:

Loving the companions of the messenger of Allah (Sallah and salaam of Allah be upon him) is a major portion of a salafee's creed. To increase this love one would need to be reminded of the virtues of the companions (radi Allahu 'anhum). Therefore whoever finds a narration about a specific companion please narrate it on this thread for others to view and increase in knowledge and love for the companions (radi Allahu 'anhum)

To being with a few words from Imam Ahmed (rahimahu Allah) on the topic:

The Fundamental Prindples of the Sunnah with us are:

"Holding fast to what the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (sallah and salaam of Allah be upon him) were upon"
"Taking them [and their way] as a model to be followed"
"So the closest of them in companionship to him are more excellent than the generation, which did not see him, even if they met Allaah with all the [good] actions. Despite that, those who accompanied the Prophet (swallallahu alaihi wasallam), saw him and heard from him [are superior]."
"And whoever saw him with his eyes, and believed in him, even if for an hour, is more excellent, on account of this companionship [with the Prophet (swallallahu alaihi wasallam)], than the Taabi’een, even if they (the Taabi’een] did every action of goodness."
    (Usool-us-Sunnah, Of Imam Ahmed)

    Imam tahaawee (rahimahullah) said:

We love the Companions of the Messenger of Allah but we do not become extreme in our love for anyone among them nor do we renounce any one of them. We hate anyone who hates them or does not mention well of them, and we only mention well of them. And loving them is religion, belief and excellence (ihsaan), while hatred of them is disbelief, hypocrisy and transgression (tughaan)
    (Aqeedah Tahaawiyya)

May Allah make this effort sincerely for His Face

    Ameen

The excellence of Mua'wiyyah (radi Allahu 'anhu):

حدثنا محمد بن يحيى حدثنا أبو مسهر عبد الأعلى بن مسهر عن سعيد بن عبد العزيز عن ربيعة بن يزيد عن عبد الرحمن بن أبي عميرة وكان من أصحاب رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أنه قال لمعاوية اللهم اجعله هاديا مهديا واهد به قال أبو عيسى هذا حديث حسن غريب .

The messenger of Allah (sallah and salaam of Allah be upon him) said (making du'aa for Mua'wiyyah): "O Allah make him a guide (for others), guided, and guide (others) through him"

(Sahih wa daeef sunnan tirmidhi 3842, Albani graded it a: Saheeh)
