Celebrating birthdays is not Haraam - Dr Zakir Naik

Dr Zakir Naik is at his usual best. Now he claims that celebrating Birthdays of ones relatives & friends is permitted in Islaam & not Haraam since, it is from the Worldly affairs for which there is no prohibition mentioned in the Qur'an & Hadeeth. He claims that Celebrating birthdays of Prophets or Non Muslim's objects of worship is prohibited since they lead to Shirk. And also goes on to say that the least that can be said about celebrating birthdays is that it is Makruh & Muslims should avoid it but insists that in his view it is Halaal & Permitted & hence not a sin or a reason for criticism.
