BUY A BRICK IN THE MONTH OF RAMADHAN

**20 DAYS - 20 BRICKS - 20K**

AssalamuAlaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu

As most of you are aware Masjid as-Sunnah of Bradford UK opened just before Ramadhan. The 5 daily prayers, Jumuah and Taraweeh have been established. The congregation seems to be growing on a daily basis as the news spreads across the city and country. The masjid is normally full at Jumuah and it is nice that most of the congregation is comprised of general members of the community. We ask Allah to make our statements and actions ones which bring the people close and not to turn them away. We want good for the people and we want ourselves and them to be guided and remain steadfast upon the truth so that we attain the pleasure of Allah.

There is a beautiful serene atmosphere with our elders attending as well as the youngsters. Mothers and grandmothers are coming along with their daughters. People are donating, offering assistance, providing iftar on a regular basis. We ask Allah to make this Masjid a source of guidance and a means to attaining the taqwaa of Allah.

As has been highlighted on numerous occasions, a considerable debt still remains (£54,534). In addition the running costs have now started. We have therefore launched a 20 day Ramadhan BUY A BRICK campaign. We encourage all of you to buy a brick for £1000. Increase your reward significantly by giving to the masjid in this blessed month. How many a people have the ability to do good but do not do it. Indeed Allah’s Mercy is upon the one who carries out the good deeds when the opportunities are presented to them. May Allah make us from amongst them. Ameen.

We will update all via a daily email sent from albaseerah. May Allah accept our deeds, ameen.

AssalamuAlaikum Wa Rahmatullah

An individual/group of individuals (we are not aware) have bought 10 bricks equivalent to £10,000 pounds in a single donation. We ask Allah azzawajal to reward them with Jannah and safeguard them from the fitan in this duniya and make their ending good. Allahumma Ameen. Over £11,000 worth of donations have come in in the last 2 days alhamdulillah. Jazakumullahu Khair. The outstanding figure is now £44,470.

We would like to add that the "Buy a brick for £1000" is only meant to be conceptual. We do not belittle any donations no matter how small they are. Since yesterday we have recieved several smaller donations and May Allah reward all those people. Maybe it is that an individual donates £1 or less than it and it is greater in the sight of Allah than the one who donates millions. May Allah accept all of our deeds. Ameen.

Finally we would like to remind everyone of the words of the noble Shaykh Al-Alaamah Saleh al-Fawzaan hafithahullah regarding our question before opening Masjid As-Sunnah. For those who do not know Shaykh Fawzaan, then he is on the permanent committee of senior scholars in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and is one of the most senior scholars alive today as has been mentioned by other scholars. Indeed the people of virtue recognise the people of virtue. May Allah preserve the shaykh and allow the Muslims to take benefit from him. The Shaykhs lessons and works can be accessed from his website: http://www.alfawzan.ws/

A question put to Shaikh Saalih al Fawzaan regarding the opening of Masjid as Sunnah, Bradford:

The brothers at albaseerah have always maintained a level of transparency and have attempted to seek advice from the scholars at every opportunity. Here we present a question that we posed to Shaikh Saalih al Fawzaan (before the opening of the masjid):

The Question: This is a question, he says (the questioner), from a Muslim community living in the West. The questioner says: We bought a building with the intention to change it in to a masjid. We bought it with a loan of £100,000, taken from the Muslim community. And we haven't opened the masjid yet.His question: If we are unable to pay off this loan, is it permissible to close down the masjid after we have completed its set up and began establishing the prayer therein? And what is your advice for us?

The Answer: No. The masjid is not to be closed down. However, you are to seek (financial help) from the Muslims. You are to seek aid from the Muslims. And the Muslims, if Allaah wills, will not let you down. Seek help from the good-doers and the tradesmen (businessmen) and they will not fall short in this, in the affair of the masjid. Waffaqallahu al-jamee'This question was put forward by our brother Abu Humaid on the 21st February 2011 after the tafseer dars of the shaikh (after maghrib), in the city of Riyadh, KSA.

AssalamuAlaikum Wa Rahmatullah

AllahuAkbar, another £13,000 has come in from an individual/group of individuals. We ask Allah azzawajal to grant these people good in this life and the hereafter and accept this mighty deed in the last 10 days of Ramadhan. Jazakumullahu Khair. We ask everyone to make dua for the donators.

Our outstanding figure is now £22,421.

Less than 3 weeks ago a 22K buy a brick campaign began. The 22k campaign was only meant to be conceptual but the response has been overwhelming. More than 30K has come in which means that all the bricks have been sold as part of that campaign. We are therefore launching the final “BUY A BRICK CAMPAIGN.” There are 22 bricks remaining and once sold, ALL OUR DEBT WILL BE PAID OFF. We bought the building for £287,000. Not even a full year has elapsed and by the bounty of Allah, we are down to the last 22k. We make a final plea and encouragement to all of you to take this opportunity whilst it is there. By buying a brick, you are no doubt investing in a lifetime of reward and beyond by the permission of Allah. We ask Allah to help us clear this outstanding debt within these last 10 blessed days of Ramadhan. 11 people are required to donate £2000 each and we are finished. But every penny counts and each donation is mighty no matter how small it is.

AssalamuAlaikum Wa Rahmatullah

Another 7 bricks have been sold totalling £7000. May Allah reward each and everyone of you with much much good and accept your deeds. Ameen.

We are coming close to the end as our current debt stands at £15,501, only 15 bricks remaining. O our brothers and sisters, we are convinced, by the permission of Allah that we can get this down to £0 before this blessed month ends. The running costs for the masjid have started so we really need to clear the debt so we can focus on that. May Allah make this affair easy.

Al hamduillah, our buy a brick campaign has been a huge success, we have received donations throughout the month, from small amounts to the large amounts. Every penny has made the difference in repaying our loan. Lastly we wish to thanks the brothers and sisters who kindly loaned us the money at the time of the purchase. It was nothing but a blessing from Allah that we were able to raise the money in the short space of time and likewise its from the blessings of Allah that we’ve been able to raise the money in the time period to repay the loan. May Allah make accept our deeds during this month and outside this month, ameen.
